Camino Update Day #8 Brrr! Yesterday’s warmth flipped to a chilly morning, and we had to layer up as we walked out the door. Considering the fact that everyone only has one, or maybe two extra clothing options, there aren’t a lot of available layers! We met friends from Logroño and they walked with us for the day. The slow and steady climb was interrupted by conversations with others. Some we have met, others we had not. One girl from Chicago stopped us and said, “Wait, are you the family that is walking the Camino? I have heard so much about you and have wanted to meet you!“ She then proceeded to repeat what my thesis for my dissertation and ask if that was correct. Apparently word is getting around! We had some great conversations with her and some others. One of Tanzen’s friends who joined us for the day had only ever walked 5 miles at one time, but the kids were able to encourage her and she made it all 28 km. We got in to the restaurant about 3 pm and had lunch. Two long days in a row and we were not fit for human interaction. Found our lodgings, unpacked, and put everyone into quiet time…including the adults. Number of steps: 38,638 Next stop: Santo Domingo de la Calzada Percentage Completed: 24.7%
